It’s always nice to try or do something new and different with your furry friend. Here are 9 activities you can do with your dog.
Hiking
Hiking can be a fun way for both you and your dog to explore through the woods. You can do this activity at a park near you. If you have woods near your house, you can also go hiking there if you like. If your dog is small and isn’t into walking long distances, you can invest in a doggie backpack, and they can just ride on your back.
Beach
Going to the beach is always fun, at least when it’s warm and sunny. Depending on the beach you want to go to, make sure that dogs are allowed there. Not every beach allows dogs. Once you figured that out, it’s time to get those feet and paws sandy, and walk along the shoreline!
Painting
This can be a fun, cute, and messy activity. First you’ll want to figure out where the painting will be done. I recommend doing this outside. You’ll need a poster paper/board for the canvas, and non-toxic paint. You can use children’s paint. Lay the paint on a flat surface so your dog will be able to walk through it and then onto the canvas. You can lead them with a treat. When you’re both pleased with the final product, you can frame it!
This is only one example of how you can paint with your dog, but feel free to choose any way you like.
Scavenger hunt
This can be a fun way of getting your dog to do some thinking. You either do this in a room or an area in your yard. Hide the treats around the room, without your dog there of course. Then let your dog in, and tell them to find the treats. You can hide the treats in plain sight, or you can hide them in something to be more challenging. For example, you can hide the treats under a paper cup, or even in some leftover Easter eggs.
Hide and seek
This activity is similar to the scavenger hunt. Instead of finding a treat, they’ll be finding you! Tell your dog to stay/wait, and then you go hide somewhere. Once you’ve found a hiding spot, call your dog to come. When they find you, you can give them a treat.
Bike ride
It can be fun to cruise around on your bike, especially with your dog! You can either use a bike basket, bike leash, or hook up a cargo trailer. They make a variety of basket and cargo trailer sizes, so if you have a big dog you don’t need to worry. You can also invest in a bike leash, so your dog can safely run alongside you.
New trick
Here’s another activity to work your dog’s brain. You can try to teach your dog whatever you want. Whether it’s roll over or play dead, your dog will enjoy spending time with you.
Go to pet store
It’s always nice to do some shopping together! Take your pup to your local pet store, and let them pick out some toys and treats.
Go to Starbucks
When is it not a good time for Starbucks? Go to the drive-thru and get your classic order and your dog’s pup cup. Get a cake pop for yourself too, you deserve it!
