Pomsky Dog Breed Information

Background

By now I’m sure most of you have heard of the Pomsky. A Pomsky is a Siberian Husky and Pomeranian mixed together. It was roughly around the 2010s when breeding the Pomerian and Siberian Husky began. Because of the obvious size difference of the parents and for safety purposes, Pomskies are bred by artificial insemination. The mixed breed has grown in popularity over the years, which has caused breeders to raise their prices and has resulted in many Pomskies ending up in shelters.

Their look

They can vary by their looks coming in all sorts of colors. They can either have a long or short coat, as well as Husky or Pomeranian coloring. Pomskies typically have Husky colors and eyes, along with the Pomeranian fluffy coat.

Just like their parents, Pomskies have a double coat. This means they can comfortably be outside during cold weather, but it also means they are big shedders and require lots of brushing maintenance.

Personality

Their personalities will obviously be a mix of the two breeds. Like their parents, Pomskies are known for being very vocal, smart, loyal, playful, and stubborn. Training them will be easy, but be prepared for the sass. Pomskies are highly adaptable to any lifestyle as long as they receive a moderate amount of activity and exercise throughout the day.

Health

Standing between 10-15 in. and weighing around 7-38 lbs, Pomskies are generally a healthy breed. Although they may suffer from some of the common health conditions just like any other dog breed. If you’re thinking about adopting this breed, it’s best to find a reputable breeder or ask the rescue/shelter about the parent history.
