Sweet potato

This vegetable is great for your dog’s immune system. Sweet potatoes contain antioxidants, and are high in vitamins A & C. You can either give the vegetable to your dog cooked or raw.

Pumpkin

Pumpkins are high in fiber, carotenoids, potassium, and vitamin C. This food is great for your dog’s digestive health. You can buy a whole pumpkin, just make sure to remove the seeds, or you can buy canned pumpkin. Make sure the canned pumpkin is plain, and has no additives.

Fish

This can include sardines, anchovies, or cooked salmon. These are a great source of protein! Fish contain omega-3 fatty acids, which helps keep your dog’s skin and hair healthy. If you choose to buy sardines or anchovies in a can, it’s best if you buy them in water rather than in oil.

Kale

Other than having a lot of vitamins, such as A, E, & C, kale has antioxidants and anti inflammatory properties. You can shred the leaves into small pieces for your dog to try. Kale doesn’t really have a lot of flavor, so your dog may not be willing to try this superfood.

Cucumber

This is a great crunchy snack that contains vitamins A & K, and it’s made of 96% water. You can cut it up into pieces for them, so it’s easier to chew, or if your dog is big then you can give them a full slice.

Bone broth

This type of broth contains a protein called collagen, which is great for your dog’s hair, skin, and joints. In order to upset your dog’s stomach, you should give them a healthy amount of bone broth. To determine this, you can use this formula: 1oz=10lbs. So if your dog weighs between 10-20lbs, you can give them 1-2oz of broth. If your dog is between 50-60lbs, you can give them 5-6oz of broth. You get the idea.

Green beans

Green beans are full of essential vitamins and minerals that are great for your dog’s health. You can give them to your dog as a small snack, or use it as a food topper. Your dog can eat these beans raw or cooked.

These foods can be given to your dog as a treat alternative, or as a topper to their food.
