So you want a dog, or you just got one? What now?
Here’s how you should take care of a dog:
Food
Making sure you’re giving your dog enough food is very important. Some puppies should eat up to 3 meals per day in order for them to receive enough nutrients. You don’t want a sad and hungry dog.
Walking
Going for walks is a great way for you and your dog to get some exercise. Physical exercise is a must in order for your dog to be healthy. Every dog should at least have one to two 30 minute walks per day. Once your puppy gets used to the routine, they’ll be so excited to go for walks.
Playing
Having playtime is another form of exercise. You and your dog will have fun, and the bond between the two of you will grow stronger. Playtime can consist of fetch, tug of war, and even hide and seek.
Training
This activity will also give them physical exercise, as well as mental. Training can help with their composure, such as not pulling on their walks or not jumping up on guests. Your dog will feel so happy when they do the command you give them. They’ll love receiving treats and praise from you!
Vet visits
Going to regular vet appointments is important, especially when they’re puppies. They’re going to need flea & tick, and heartworm prevention every month. If something is wrong with them, such as an ear infection or digestion problems, it’s best to visit the vet right away rather than wait.
Love
And of course you’ll want to give your dog plenty of love and attention! Talk to them, hug them, cuddle them, groom them, and give them plenty of treats. Make sure your dog is always a happy dog!
